Poros means “passage”. At the edge of this passage, from where it got its name, is built amphitheatrically on a hill the island traditional city of Poros. It is a volcanic island in the saronic gulf, with dense vegetation, hills, marvelous bays and the highest peak is Vigla, with an altitude of 378m.
Poros also has the unique advantage of 24-hour access from Galata where small ferries or boats will take you to the island, just 4 minutes from the picturesque sea crossing. It has one of the best waterski resorts in Europe and in general is one of the most popular islands for water tourism (sailing, yachting, fishing).
